Katrina and Guns

Note to NRA:

Did you notice that now and then helicopters had to abandon rescue efforts in New Orleans when they were shot at? That’s right. Some nutcase thought it would be fun to bring down the aircraft that were trying to save babies and old people, not to mention everyone else.

Tell me, just one more time, about how good unrestricted gun ownership is for America.

  1. I don't like guns, but as Michael Moore (probably inadvertantly) pointed out in Bowling for Columbine, there are plenty of nations with guns (his example was canada) very little crime, and very few murders.

The problem here is with our culture. But I guess until that is fixed, we should do something about the guns.

I'm left however with a memory of a protesting Chinese college Student saying, "Don't let them take your guns."

The idea of a properly armed militia that can overthrow a tyrannical government is very appealing (and probably a few years overdue), but not likely any more.
