Pelosi No Fool

In the Washington Post, we learn that “House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told Democrats in a closed-door meeting ... that she will not act until she learns more about how the Senate would conduct the trial, according to three people present for her remarks.”

This is undoubtedly wise on her part given that Mitch McConnell has indicated “Republicans have enough votes to proceed with President Trump’s impeachment trial with no agreement with Democrats on witnesses.” In other words, to run the impeachment in such a way as to make the conviction of the President pretty much impossible.

This is not a promising beginning for anything like so abstract and rare as justice.
